An 1st infantry division in vietnam, a vietnam soldier, WWII Infantry Soldier, the division cavalry,

If you and they were in it together you can find out where they are.

In April of this year Crossville TN was the host for vets of the vietnam war.  We had a large group of motorcyle riders that were Vets of the war come through Crossville.  There was a full day of celebrations held at the Community Center.

My brother in law was one of the vietnam vets.  He still has a hard time talking about what happen there in Vietnam, but he was so proud that day in April to see old buddys again.

What was the primary weapon of choice for the British army under WWII?

Before you give me a link to Wiki with a list of all their weapons, please, I have already checked them out, but if someone could tell me which one is the most normal one or the preferred one that would be great! =D
And by weapon I mean rifle or SMG or pistol or whatever the British infantry would use during WWII.

Their usual equipment was mostly Lee Enfield and Sten. Other weapons such as Bren and Thompson were used as well.

How were the conditions for the vietnamese soldiers in the vietnam war?

we all see how vietnam soldiers interacted in movies like platoon etc..i dont know if they are accurate or not…but i've NEVER seen a movie based on the otherside. do any of you know what conditions were like for the vietnamese soldiers, how they interacted?

The VC were tough fighters a 5 lb bag of rice and in the jungle for 4 months they were very good with warfare tactics a lot of soldiers said they could lay a mortar round in a hand basket at a very far distance.

What was the first name of the civil war confederate soldier Sgt. Grace of the 4th Georgia Infantry?

Just a little tidbit of information I need for a fictional history story I’m writting…

An F.M. Grace was surrendered at Tallahasse, FL on 10 May 1865. He was paroled at Thomasville, Ga on 15 May 1865.

A Charles D. Grace of Co 'B' enlisted 26 Apr 1861, wounded and furloughed, last record surrendered Appomattox Court House 9 Apr 1865. This company was mustered into service on 3 May 1861 at Augusta, Ga. He enlisted at La Grange, Ga. On 26 Apr 1861 he was at a hospital.

31 Dec 1863 he was wounded and on furlough.

He was sent for exchange from Ft. Delaware to Aikens Landing, Va 2 Oct 1862. Declared exchanged on 10 Nov 1862.

He is on the list of soldiers surrendered by Gen. Lee at Appomattox.

He was in a regimental hospital on 13 Nov 1861 with a fever. I can read the type of fever but am unfamiliar with it. He returned to duty 14 Nov 1861. On 21 May 1864 he is shown as being at Jackson hospital, Richmond, Va. He was furloughed for 60 days. He was shot in the left shoulder by a mini ball and admitted at Jackson Hospital on 16 May.

There are several other records throughout the war.

I might add that there was also a 4th Georgia Cavalry and another 4th Ga unit.

I am an amateur historian and genealogist. If you are researching an ancestor, try to connect to me as a friend. I'll try to remember who you are and we'll figure oiut how to contact each other. I have access to some Civil War records and can point you toward better records which can be obtained from the government at very minimal costs.

Check my source listing if you are researching an ancestor and need help.

Oops, you want fiction. Well, if you are basing it on Charles Grace, I'll send copies of records.

What Is An "Armored Division"?

It says 1st Cavalry Division is a rapidly deployable heavy armored division of the United States Army

For the most part, two of the other guys are right. And armored division is mechanized. We use the tanks and the bradleys. These are heavily armored vehicles.

There are basically two different types of divisions in the Army. Heavy and light. The heavy of couse use the armored vehicles (and this doesn't mean up armored humvees). Light unit us just humvees and do a lot of dismounted (on foot) manuevers and tactics. Don't get me wrong, the guys using the bradleys get out and do a lot of dimounting and raids just as much as the light guys do in the war we got going on right now, but in a conventional war, the heavy guys move in and strike hard and fast. Especially when there is enemy armor. You can't pit ground troops up against an enemy armored division. So you have to have the heavy guys come in and destroy them.
